London Legacy Development Corporation

Paragon Interiors Plc

Our team at Wildstone Build was delighted to be instructed by sports giant, Adidas Group to support proposals to create a temporary indoor sports facility. The site was within a single storey building of 3,058sqm (GIA).  The sports facility was important to the local community in order to create opportunities for youth sport participation and engagement. Temporary planning permission was granted. Image credit: Paragon.

Bishopsgate Goods Yard

Powerleague Fives Ltd

London Boroughs of Hackney and Tower Hamlets

Architecture 2B

We advised sports operator Powerleague on proposals for a temporary pop-up football centre on the Bishopsgate Goods Yard site next to Shoreditch High Street station.
This involved working with the freehold owners, Network Rail and the joint venture partners, Hammerson and Ballymore. And because the site straddled two administrative boundaries, Hackney and Tower Hamlets, we had to obtain permission from both London boroughs.

Fulham FC

Fulham Football Club

London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham

Rathbone Miller Architects

Wildstone Planning was instructed for advice by Fulham FC on proposals for their new facilities including a full-size indoor pitch, a floodlit all-weather pitch and enhanced stadium pitch to meet the latest Premier League requirements.
The site’s designation as Metropolitan Open Land (London’s Green Belt) meant the proposals were considered an inappropriate use of land in principle.  Therefore our team had to build a strong case for Very Special Circumstances to be applied. We worked with a multi-disciplinary team to prepare, submit and negotiate planning for the scheme, and consequently secured successful planning permission. In partnership with Renew Planning, we gave planning advice to the Music Venues Trust and Sound Diplomacy in their efforts to lobby the Greater London Authority for greater protection of grass roots music venues, through the planning policy framework as set out in the London Plan.
Most recently we advised Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in Soho on planning matters in relation to the protection of their iconic venue.

Old Deer Park

Underbelly / LBR

London Borough of Richmond upon Thames

Wildstone Studio

We worked in partnership with the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and Underbelly on proposals for a temporary Fanzone in Old Deer Park in association with the Rugby World Cup 2015.
As the site is designated as Metropolitan Open Land and a historic park and garden, there was significant local interest and scrutiny of the scheme, which required extensive engagement and consultation. Against challenging timescales, planning permission was obtained and the scheme was delivered in time for the opening ceremony.

PowerLeague

Powerleague Fives Ltd

Surrey County Council

Bonar Associates Architects

We advised sports operator, Powerleague on a new multi-sports facility in Hanworth, near Sunbury-on-Thames. As the site is located on undeveloped green belt land there were significant planning challenges from the outset.
Following lengthy negotiations with the local planning authority, and despite opposition from some local residents and neighbouring ward councillors, the proposal was recommended for approval. We are pleased to say it was passed through the local area committee and main planning committee.
We advised on the discharge of conditions and obligations and assisted on planning matters throughout the construction.‍

‍We continue to advise leisure operators, schools, universities, colleges and sports clubs across the country on planning matters relating to the development of indoor and outdoor sports facilities including all-weather pitches, spectator stands, air halls and sports halls.
Our longstanding relationship with sports operator Powerleague Fives Ltd and pitch contractors SIS Pitches has developed our specialism in this area, and we have also advised The FA,  Fulham FC, Brentford FC, Lewes FC, and Rossyln Park RFC.
